It’s getting to be that time of year again—time to test the heating system! It’s important to know before the cold sets in that your heat is efficiently and effectively working. Assessing the system in the fall season allows time for maintenance and repairs if necessary.
Below are just a few recommendations to possibly implement in your preventive maintenance plan.
Portable Heater Maintenance
- Change out all air filters.
- Check blower, belts, and motor. Be sure to lubricate the blower bearings and motor.
- Clean the heating, evaporator, and condenser coils.
- Assess the operation of the heating systems.
- Confirm the heating and cooling systems are functioning.
- Verify and amend all operating and safety controls.
- Clean condensate drain, trap, and pan.
You should have additional portable heaters ready in case you need them. Check out our selection of portable heaters.
Portable AC Maintenance
- Change all air filters and blower belts.
- Examine and lubricate the blower bearings.
- Clean the heating, evaporator, and condenser coils.
- Validate that heating and cooling systems are functioning.
- Confirm refrigerant and compressor oil levels on the compressors.
- Verify and amend all operating and safety controls.
- Clean condensate drain, trap, and pan.
Portable air conditioning units are also recommended to have on hand in the case of an outage or emergency. Take a look at our available portable AC units.
Regular HVAC Maintenance
Ideally, two mid-season inspections should be completed in between the major ones. These inspections are usually scheduled in February and August. In these inspections you will want to:
- Change all air filters.
- Check and adjust belts and blower. Also, lubricate the blower bearings.
- Clean the heating, evaporator, and condenser coils.
- Validate the heating and cooling systems are functioning.
- Clean condensate drain, trap, and pan.
