How Does a Portable Heat Pump Work?
A portable heat pump offers cooling and heating capabilities. When used for heating, it works like a portable air conditioner but in reverse. The unit absorbs heat from the surrounding air, which causes the refrigerant inside the heat pump to vaporize while absorbing the heat. Then the heat goes to a compressor and increases the temperature. The heated vapor from the refrigerant moves to the heat pump condenser coil, where it transfers the heat to the air. So essentially, heat is extracted from the air and ejected into your space.
Is A Portable Heat Pump Efficient?
Yes! A heat pump is more efficient than a conventional electric heater. The AHSC-18 heat pump that we carry plugs into a regular 115V outlet and is the equivalent to running 3 space heaters. Unlike a normal heater that needs electricity to actually create heat, a heat pump only needs electricity to power the compressor and fans. So you get more heat for less electricity, which means you’ll spend less on the electric bill.
