When installing your Frost Fighter IDF 500 Diesel Unit, it’s important that it has its ductwork set up properly.
Learn How to Resolve Duct Work Issues in Your IDF 500 Diesel Unit
The video below will show you how to check to make sure it’s in working order.
Transcript: You want to make sure all your duct runs are as smooth as possible. [Abrupt turns in the ductwork] will cause the unit to go up on high limit. And unlike its counterpart, the propane/natural gas unit, there’s a bimetal high limit switch.
So, what will end up happening is the unit will still run, but it will short cycle, which, in most circumstances, is not enough heat in a long-term basis. So, we also have this 16-inch face that will also adapt to the front of these units.
It’s a 16-inch single hit, and you can go a maximum of 50 feet at length. You don’t want to go any further because you’ll end up forming back pressure that will cause this unit to short cycle.
