Even baseball players need to stay cool. Recently, we sent an evaporative cooler over to the Camden Riversharks’ clubhouse to keep temperatures at a comfortable level while the AC wasn’t blasting. Evaporation coolers, also known as swamp coolers, are a cost efficient alternative to air conditioning that can lower temperatures by 30 degrees. You can run an evaporation cooler for pennies a day.
Although the Riversharks opted to use this cooler for an indoor space, they work great for outdoor cooling as well. These devices work by saturating the cooling pads inside, then pulling the cool air out of them. They can run for a full day on water in the reservoir, or you can hook them up to a hose. The reservoir holds up to 24 gallons of water. Although they act like misting fans, you don’t have to worry about evaporation coolers getting anyone wet.
